With the enticing idea of managing your own time, being your own boss, living on your own term, there are more and more women becoming entrepreneours. However often this is without consideration of several important points to starting a business.
So if you have a great idea that you are passionate about, excellent! But watch out for these pitfalls:
- Buying a Job
So you have an idea that you want to turn into a business! Awesome! At the beginning this will require lots of effort and for you to be everything in your business, however when you create your business plan, make sure that you plan yourself out of the picture! So in the long term you can work on your business, rather than in it!
- Know Your Niche
Next area that you need to get really clear on is knowing your niche. Who are they? What demographics are they in? What is their biggest problem? How can you help them solve it? Don’t try to capture everybody as you end up with no one! Get clear on your niche and your marketing will become targeted to your perfect customer.
- Have a Product Funnel
Once you know who the people you want coming to you and what their problem is, you need to get clear on the kind of experience you want to offer them. How can you give them value? What can you give them for free to build your status and get yourself known? What can you offer them at a low price and what can you offer those that become your fans?
- Engage With ‘Your People’
It’s absolutely vital that you engage with the people you want to sell to. So you need to know where they hang out. How you can get them interested in you. Get them hooked on what you are about and what you have to offer. Not only will they be ready to buy from you, they will tell others about how great you are.
- Be Unique and Inspiring
If you haven’t yet done so, I recommend you watch Simon Sinek’s video on ‘Begin with Why’. If you have a clear inspiration as to why you do what you do and you can ‘sell’ that to the crowds, you can start a movement. Just look at Apple, that is exactly what they were doing!
Be clear about these points, be consistent, and your business will flourish.
